About UIPS-Au

The Unlocking IP Search - Australian Materials (UIPS-Au) is a tool for finding Australian content with public rights.

In this version, there are four categories of works that can be found. All of these searches restrict the search space either to Australian licences, or to Australian websites.
  1. Works in the public domain, in the sense that copyright has expired in relation to the work - UIPS can currently find content on Project Gutenberg Australia and CSIRO's entomology web site;
  2. Works licensed under any AEShareNet licences which are registered on the AEShareNet web site;
  3. Works licensed under AEShareNet instant licences which can be found by using Yahoo! advanced search for links to licences
  4. Works licensed under Creative Commons licences which can be found by using Yahoo! advanced search for links to these licences.

In this version, there are limits on how many results can be displayed from each search. For each source, a maximum of 20 results is returned. Only the first 80 of the combined results will be displayed. These limitations will be reduced in future versions.

Please note that this search returns results that indicate in some way that content may be licenced under the stated licence, or are in the public domain. Before using any content found by this search, please ensure that the content is properly licenced as stated, or is in fact in the public domain. Failure to do so may constitute an infringement of the copyright in the material. Further information may be found in the help page.
